JUDGED WORTHY - AM I? ARE THEY?

Jesus questions presuppositions of the nature of humanities relationship to God.

He questions their additions surrounding the Law because they make the Law unbearable.
Mark 2:27 ESV
And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
He releases the command of the Law.
Mark 7:20 ESV
And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him.
Don’t judge people by what they look like. By what they wear. What they put up to their lips or not.
It matters how we think about people and how we treat people.

What is unclean or defiled in the minds of the OT & Mark

κοινοσ = not in a state of readiness for full inclusion in God’s presence.
ακαθαρτοσ = their condition is opposed to God.
μιαινω = actions that are egregiously against God Spiritually.

THE LAW IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR BEING WITH GOD.

God’s Purpose for His Law

To live right with His people.
For our lives to be lived in His rightness.
The Law acts as a means, a brace to hold your body in alignment while you wait for that moment when everything is where it needs to be, and the muscles are strong.

Love is the Fulfillment of the Law

Romans 13:8–10 ESV
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Live in love
Then do we disregard the Law? By no means! The Law is still useful in our lives, because our spirit still battles with our sin. The Law kills sin, or more accurately killed sin. It points back to where we see love, feel love, learn …. Love.
But one day, and I pray its soon. The braces will come off, the crutches will be set down… we wont struggle to walk, but we will stretch out, that heart muscle that’s been bridled for so long, and find that it is strong and ready to leap, then what might life look like….?(KILL THE LIGHTS) PLAY THE FORREST GUMP CLIP.
